Such an amazing place. Random stop while on a road trip with the gf she was so excited. She know all about the place but didn't realize we were near it. Great lunch and Thursdays are their speaker days at the lunch hall
My wife has loved Best Friends from a distance for years, regularly donating. A few days ago we had the opportunity to volunteer there at Dogtown. It was awesome. We spent 90% of our time walking dogs. Some of them were happy friendly dogs, others were dogs that obviously had had bad relationships with humans in the past, but appreciated a good walk. Each of them were great in their own way and I hope I made their day. After the walking, we helped serve up lunch for the dogs. I dried their just-washed bowls and my wife filled them with food. With that done we only had about 10 minutes left in our shift so the staff asked us to spend some time with Wigglesworth. I have no idea what kind of dog he was, but we rubbed and scratched him to the point where we was just laying on his side, legs stretched out, soaking it up. He was so happy, which of course made us happy! If you love animals, go here and volunteer. The tours are probably informative, but when you volunteer you really get to interact with and help the animals, which is awesome! Will definitely come back!
Wonderful no kill sanctuary, humanely run. Kindest staff. Excellent tours. Great vegan lunch at the Angel Village at the sanctuary.
We've come to volunteer here a few times already and we will be back again. The area is incredibly beautiful and peaceful so you will definitely completely forget about your everyday life and worries. It is extremely satisfying to give to animals and forget yourself and I'll is also very gratifying to see that staff is so appreciative of your help. And even if you don't want to volunteer make sure to take a tour of the Sanctuary and just enjoy.
Very nice and unique sanctuary. They are doing a great job taking care of those animals. Staff are super nice and their lunch buffet is delicious and affordable.
